The belief that the world is malleable and that we can change it is an old one. People have always believed that by changing their environment they could control events that affect their lives. Some people believe that a better world can be produced by changing the world in a positive direction. These people are called "magicians," because they try to change the world in a way that they want it to be.

They can't really do it however, because the world isn't malleable. It's not possible to change the world without also changing ourselves and how we live our lives. We can't make the world match our ideals, even when we try hard.
